Grand Valley State (31-3 last year) begins the 2022-23 season as the No. 1 team in the land according to the WBCA NCAA Division II Preseason Top 25 Coaches Poll released today. The Lakers received nine of the possible 23 first-place votes from a divided panel of voters. No. 2 Western Washington (25-6) received seven first-place votes, No. 8 and defending national champion Glenville State (35-1) received five first-place votes, and No. 6 West Texas A&M (26-11) and No. 7 California, PA (25-6) got one first-place vote each.
