Defending national champion South Carolina is No. 1 in the USA TODAY Sports/WBCA Preseason Top 25 Coaches Poll released today. The Gamecocks (35-2 last year) claimed 30 of the 32 possible first-place votes. No. 2 Stanford (32-4) and No. 9 Iowa State (24-8) received the other two first-place votes.
