Committees & Working Groups

Awards Committees

Each WBCA divisional award committee is responsible for selecting the winner(s), based on specific criteria, of the awards within the division for which it is responsible. Individual committee members are responsible for closely following the top prospects for their committee’s awards and for encouraging the coaches in their respective regions to nominate candidates and vote for finalists.

Standing Committees

A standing committee is one that is established in WBCA bylaws and, as such, is necessary to governing the association. The only standing committee is the nine-member Executive Committee, which is composed of the following persons:

  • President.
  • Vice president.
  • Immediate past president.
  • Secretary (executive director).
  • Treasurer.
  • One of the five NCAA Division I coach directors on the board.
  • One of the three NCAA Division II coach directors on the board.
  • One of the three NCAA Division III coach directors on the board.
  • One of the two athletics administrators (NCAA Division I commissioner or conference/campus athletics administrator) on the board.

Select Committees

Select committees are those established by the board of directors to oversee a particular area of association operations, perform specific task or tasks, or provide advice and guidance to the board of directors on specific matters. Unlike ad-hoc committees, which are created to perform a specific assignment and automatically dissolve once their work is done, select committees continue in perpetuity unless dissolved by the board.

  • Assistant Coaches Committee.
  • Audit Committee.
  • Benevolent Fund Committee.
  • Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
  • Finance Committee.
  • Nominating Committee.

Working Groups

Working groups are created or authorized by the board of directors, executive committee, president and/or executive director to study particular issues or questions and make recommendations based on their findings. Working groups may be composed of members of the board of directors, members of the association, staff members, and nonmembers who are experts in the subject matter.
