Christopher Newport (17-0) is the new No. 1 team in the WBCA NCAA Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Captains claimed the top spot after previously top-ranked Hope had its 61-game win streak — the longest active win streak at any NCAA basketball level — snapped by No. 5 Trine (15-2). Hope (17-1), which fell to No. 3, had been ranked No. 1 since March 2, 2020. No NCAA Division III poll was conducted during the 2020-21 season because of insufficient participation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
