WBCA recognizes 2021 Victory Club honorees

ATLANTA (April 6, 2021) — The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced today the 2021 WBCA Victory Club honorees.

Rhonda Farney of Georgetown High School in Georgetown, Texas, reached 1,200 victories on Jan. 15, 2021, to lead this year’s Victory Club list of honorees. Farney finished the 2020-21 season with 1,209 wins which makes her the sixth-most winning coach in high school girls basketball history.

Tara VanDerveer of Stanford University and Geno Auriemma of the University of Connecticut each reached 1,100 victories — VanDerveer on Dec. 19, 2020, and Auriemma on Jan. 21, 2021 — both surpassing Pat Summitt’s all-time wins record of 1,098 along the way. VanDerveer ended the 2020-21 season with 1,125 victories. Auriemma trails her by six games with 1,119 wins.

The WBCA Victory Club honor is bestowed annually on each WBCA member head coach who achieves a milestone of 200, 300, 400, 500 or more career victories during the current season on the level of competition at which they currently coach. Victories recorded at differing levels of competition (for example scholastic and collegiate) cannot be combined.
