WBCA presents Jean Lenti Ponsetto with the President’s Award

DALLAS (April 2, 2017) — Jean Lenti Ponsetto, the director of athletics at DePaul University, was presented on Friday with the 2017 WBCA President's Award by Women’s Basketball Coaches Association President Coquese Washington.

The President’s Award recipient is selected by the current president of the WBCA and presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the game of women’s basketball. It is not presented annually.

“Jean Lenti-Ponsetto is a giant in collegiate sports and to have her connected to our game is unbelievably rewarding," said Washington. “She is a role model for coaches in our profession as well as an incredible source of innovative and forward-thinking solutions. I am truly delighted to recognize Jean for her outstanding contributions to the WBCA.”

Ponsetto, who currently serves as chair of the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Oversight Committee, has worked to advance and grow women’s basketball throughout her career. In addition to serving and chairing various NCAA committees, Ponsetto has a long history of involvement with the WBCA. She has served as chair of the WBCA’s Wade Trophy Selection Committee as well as the WBCA’s Finance Committee and played an instrumental role in helping negotiate a marketing contract between the WBCA and NCAA, which ensured the WBCA’s financial stability for the foreseeable future.

Earlier this year, Ponsetto was also selected as the 2017 WBCA Administrator of the Year.
