Haley Roddy wins 2017 Charles T. Stoner Law Scholarship Award

ATLANTA (March 8, 2017) — Haley Roddy of the University of Mount Union is the recipient of the 2017 Charles T. Stoner Law Scholarship Award, the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association announced today.

The $1,000 Charles T. Stoner Law Scholarship Award, named for and presented by Stoner, a former legal consultant to the WBCA, is presented annually to one female collegiate basketball player who intends to pursue a career in law.

"I am pleased to present Haley Roddy with the Charles T. Stoner Law Scholarship Award,” said Danielle Donehew, executive director of the WBCA. “Haley has proven to be an astute student, and a great competitor on the basketball court. Throughout her time at the University of Mount Union, she has learned invaluable lessons that will allow her to succeed in her future endeavors. The WBCA supports her intention of pursuing a law degree and her future work to serve the greater society.”

Roddy is a senior at Mount Union, majoring in integrated media with a double minor in business administration and legal studies. She maintains an overall 3.705 grade point average (GPA).

All-in commitment goes beyond the court and classroom for Roddy, as she holds memberships with the Pre-Law Society, Lambda Pi Eta Honor Society and Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC). She also works for the university’s athletic department and on-campus radio station.

This season, Roddy was named team captain by the Raider squad after demonstrating what it takes to be a team leader — hard work, discipline and dedication.

The Charles T. Stoner Law Scholarship Award was first presented in 1996. Visit www.wbca.org/recognize/ to see a list of past recipients.
