WBCA/D2CIDA Division II National Player of the Week – Bridie McCann, 5-6, Junior, Nova Southeastern
McCann helped lead the Sharks to a pair of Sunshine State Conference wins last week, including a victory over
ninth-ranked Embry-Riddle when she scored a career-high 29 points and connected five times from three-point
range in that contest. She went 11-of-22 from the field overall and added six rebounds, four assists and two steals
in the 65-57 victory. Earlier in the week, McCann had 16 points on six-of-nine shooting – which included a four-of-
six showing from beyond the arc – with a rebound, four assists and three steals as the Sharks downed Barry 86-77.
In the two games, McCann made 17 of her 31 field goal attempts (55 percent), nine-of-17 from three-point range
and both free throws, finishing with averages of 22.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, four assists and 2.5 steals per game to
earn the SSC’s Player of the Week award. Nova Southeastern improved to 9-0 on the season with the two wins and
moved up to seventh in this week’s Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s national poll.
