The Contributor Awards recognize the individuals whose leadership, service, and dedication have helped shape and elevate women’s basketball beyond the sidelines. These honors celebrate administrators, media members, and influential leaders whose work has strengthened the sport, expanded its reach, and supported its continued growth.

From lifetime achievement to excellence in leadership and storytelling, the Contributor Awards spotlight those whose impact is felt across programs, institutions, and generations—ensuring the game continues to thrive at every level.

Administrator of the Year

Administrator of the Year is presented annually to a collegiate athletics administrator who has promoted women’s basketball in a positive manner at the local, regional and/or national levels, and who has served as a professional role model for student-athletes.

Betty F. Jaynes Lifetime Achievement Award

The Betty F. Jaynes Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an individual who has maintained a professional lifelong commitment of service to the game of women’s basketball. This award is named after the late Betty F. Jaynes who was the WBCA’s first and longest-serving executive director. The award is presented annually during the WBCA Awards Show at the WBCA Convention.

Mel Greenberg Media Award

The Mel Greenberg Media Award recognizes a media, marketing or sports communications professional who has best displayed a commitment to women’s basketball and to advancing the role of the media in promoting the women’s game. The award is named in honor of longtime Philadelphia Inquirer sportswriter Mel Greenberg, its first recipient, who started The Associated Press Top 25 college women’s basketball poll.

President’s Award

The President’s Award is presented by and at the sole discretion of the current WBCA president to an individual who the president believes has made significant contributions to the game of women’s basketball. It is not necessarily presented annually.
