Next Generation Institute is a high-level education program for experienced collegiate assistant coaches who aspire to become collegiate head coaches.
The Next Generation Institute curriculum focuses on the CEO attributes needed to lead a program and be a problem-solver in today’s ever-changing landscape of higher education and the enterprise of intercollegiate athletics.
To be eligible for selection to participate in the program, a person:
- Must be a current WBCA member;
- Must have at least five years’ experience as a college assistant coach;
- Must have attended the WBCA convention in the past; and
- Must have been nominated by their head coach.
**The WBCA is now accepting nominations for the 2025 Next Generation Institute. A head coach who wishes to nominate an assistant coach to be considered for acceptance into the program should email the name of the assistant coach and the institution for which the assistant coach presently works to Shayla Black at sblack@wbca.org by 5 p.m. ET, Friday, Aug. 9, 2024. The email should include a statement from the head coach attesting that: (1) the assistant coach meets the minimum criteria for acceptance into the program; and (2) the head coach believes the assistant coach is ready to fill the role of a head coach.**
Participants will meet at the 2025 WBCA Convention in Tampa, Florida.
