Russell Athletic Together We R Team Award

The Russell Athletic Together We R Team Award honors a team that overcomes unforeseen barriers during the current season and finishes the year with accomplishments that exceeded their expectations. The award is presented during the WBCA Awards Show at the WBCA Convention.

Eligibility

Any college or high school team whose coach is a WBCA member is eligible for consideration.

Criteria

The team must have faced some form of an extraordinary circumstance such as an unforeseen team crisis, barrier or an unfortunate situation that caused extra stress on the performance of the team during the current season.
The team must have overcame the situation and exceeded its expectations for the season.
The team must exemplify strong commitment to core values of togetherness, courage, unparalleled work ethic and heart, and must personify "Together We R" – the belief that teams are stronger than individuals.
The team/athletic department must be able to create and submit to the WBCA a two-minute video in high-defintion format (16x9 aspect ratio, 1080p resolution) in which individuals associated with the team describe and share their recollections of the situation.

Nomination Process

Any college or high school coach who is a WBCA member may nominate their team for consideration. The nomination must be submitted by email as an attachment to dtrujillo@wbca.org.  The nomination must consist of a typewritten description of the situation that is not more than two pages long, double spaced in 12-point type. The description of the situation must include the following information:

Name of the WBCA member submitting the nomination
 Description of the extraordinary circumstance
Description of how the situation affected the team
Description of how the team overcame the challenge

Selection of Finalists

A selection committee composed of WBCA past presidents reviews the submissions, discusses the nominees and selects the finalists. The WBCA office then contacts the finalists and provides them with instructions and the deadline for submitting the two-minute video.

Member/Fan Voting

Once all finalist videos are received the WBCA uploads the videos to its YouTube Channel where members and fans can view them and vote for their choice of recipient by "liking" the video they believe most deserving of the award.

Selection of Recipient

The selection committee, after viewing the finalists' videos, votes to determine the recipient. The finalist that won the members/fans vote on YouTube receives one additional vote equal to that of a selection committee member in the process.
