The Gamecocks (29-2), which lost to Kentucky in the SEC Tournament championship game, edged out Pac-12 Conference Tournament champion No. 2 Stanford by four poll points — 781 to 777. South Carolina received 19 first-place votes; Stanford (28-3) received 12 first-place votes. The remaining first-place vote went to ACC Tournament champion No. 3 NC State (29-3).
