Wade Watch Spotlight: Jordin Canada; A'ja Wilson

South Carolina’s A’ja Wilson and UCLA’s Jordin Canada are this week’s Wade Watch Spotlight players because of their outstanding performances last week (Jan. 25 through Jan. 31).

Wilson posted a game-high 27 points as South Carolina topped Arkansas 90-42. She put on a display on the defensive side blocking an SEC-season-high seven shots and grabbing seven of her 13 rebounds on the defensive end. The senior forward shot a spectacular 11 of 19 from the field and dished out three assists. Later in the week, in the Gamecocks’ 64-54 win over Missouri, she kept up her dominance, posting her second double-double of the week with 15 rebounds and 15 points. With that stellar scoring performance, the senior from Hopkins, South Carolina, exceeded 2,00 career points and became South Carolina’s all-time leading scorer in SEC play.

Canada led all scorers with 22 points in UCLA’s 86-69 win over Washington. She poured it in from the field, shooting 60 percent from the floor, making two of three from 3-point range. She also kept her teammates involved by tallying a game-high five assists. The senior guard from Los Angeles didn’t stay one-dimensional though. She grabbed five rebounds, all coming on the defensive side, and snagged two steals. Canada also led the Bruins to a 79-71 win over Washington State, scoring 19 points and making seven of her eight free throw attempts. The senior grabbed four boards and dished out three more assists. This is the second time this season that Canada has been named Pac-12 Player of the Week.
