Author, ESPN columnist Kate Fagan to speak on mental health at 2018 WBCA Convention

Join us Friday, March 30, at the 2018 WBCA Convention in Columbus, Ohio, as ESPN’s Kate Fagan discusses her book, What Made Maddy Run, and leads a discussion about how coaches and athletic departments can identify and support student-athletes struggling with mental health issues.

In May 2015, Fagan, a former NCAA Division I student-athlete who currently is a columnist and feature writer for espnW, published an in-depth feature about Madison Holleran, the University of Pennsylvania track and field athlete who ended her own life after a secret battle with anxiety and depression. The story which generated over 3 million hits was the most-read story on espnW and the most-watched in ESPN digital media history. The article led her to write her New York Times bestselling book, which shines a light on the pressures faced by young athletes and points out the limitations of the current system to address them.

Don’t miss this extraordinary opportunity to hear Kate and join our community’s effort to address this important issue.
