Hoopsville on D3Hoops.com took its viewers to Illinois on Sunday, January 22, 2017, to talk women’s basketball with Derek James, head coach at MacMurray College, for the weekly “WBCA Center Court” feature.
The Highlanders’ head coach has worn many hats, including assistant coach for men’s and women’s basketball, as well as the head coach for men’s and women’s golf. Now in his fourth year, James has his program running at full speed and is making his mark in NCAA Division III basketball.
A graduate of MacMurray, James was inducted into the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013 after being a dual-sport athlete. He set many school records — seventh in all-time scoring (1,280 points), first in all-time, three-point field goals (228), and sixth in all-time steals.
