WBCA President Cori Close statement on Kaplan Hecker report

Statement of Women’s Basketball Coaches Association President Cori Close, head coach, UCLA, regarding the report of Kaplan Hecker and Fink LLC from its gender equity review of NCAA women’s and men’s basketball programs:

"Today the law firm of Kaplan Hecker and Fink LLC is delivering to the NCAA Board of Governors the report from its gender equity review of NCAA women’s and men’s basketball programs. We understand the report documents findings of inequities in the NCAA’s management of these sports and recommends corrective measures. We also understand the report is supplemented by an independent media valuation of college women’s basketball that far exceeds any previous such media valuations of the sport. We ask the NCAA Board of Governors to release publicly the Kaplan Hecker report in its entirety as soon as feasibly possible. Meaningful change cannot and will not occur without complete transparency by the NCAA regarding this report.

“The WBCA community of coaches is eager to begin working with NCAA leadership, staff, member institutions, and its corporate and media partners to achieve once and for all equity for women’s basketball and those who coach and play it.”
