Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Executive Director Danielle Donehew reacts to the NCAA's announcement regarding the decision of the Division I Men's and Women's Basketball Oversight Committees not to proceed with plans for a joint Men's and Women's Final Four:
“Of all the recommendations made in the Kaplan Hecker gender equity report, Division I head women’s basketball coaches are most guarded in their support for a joint Men’s and Women’s Final Four. The WBCA appreciates the women’s and men’s basketball committees’ detailed analyses of a possible joint Final Four and respects their decision not to move forward with plans for such an event. We, however, do support continued exploration of different championship models and enhancements that have the potential to improve the student-athlete experience and to promote a successful business model for the women’s basketball championship.”
