The Time for Gender Equity in Basketball is Now.

ATLANTA (April 15, 2021) — The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association joins our WNBA colleagues in celebrating the exceptional talent in women’s basketball today.  We are excited to make available #OurShiningMoment, a video celebration of the 2021 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship. The video is now available to watch online below.

As the WNBA announces its 2021 draft picks tonight on ESPN, we join them in showcasing the extraordinary talent in our shared game and celebrating the future of this generation’s most talented women’s basketball players.

#OurShiningMoment is part of the WBCA’s #OurFairShot public relations campaign to call attention to the gender inequities in NCAA women’s and men’s basketball with the goal of bringing about meaningful and lasting change within the sport.

The four-minute video was assembled from video footage provided by the 64 tournament teams. Music was provided courtesy of Blue Élan Records LLC, an independent record label based in Los Angeles that is a WBCA video and audio partner. “Fireball” is written by Cindy Alexander and Colin Devlin, performed by Cindy Alexander, and is used courtesy of Blue Élan Records.
