On May 8, 2001, a young coach named Curt Miller came to Bowling Green, speaking of a plan to restore the Falcon women's basketball team as a Mid-American Conference contender.
Handed the reins of a storied Falcon program that had fallen from the top of the conference, Miller talked of a five-year plan to return the Brown and Orange to the heights it had previously enjoyed under coaches Fran Voll and Jaci Clark. Miller and his assistants not only restored the Falcons as a perennial league power, they also have led the program to dizzying heights on a regional and national scale.
It is safe to say that his mission has been accomplished, and then some. In just a few short years after coming to Northwest Ohio, Miller had proven himself to be one of the top coaches in the country. And, in recent seasons, he has done nothing to disprove that argument.
Through eight years at the helm, Miller and the Falcons have reached heights never before achieved by a MAC women's basketball program. BGSU has certainly sailed into uncharted waters, recording milestone after milestone over the last few seasons.
Miller's Falcons proceeded to shred that five-year plan, getting to the MAC Tournament's championship game in his third season, and winning the league's regular-season and tourney crowns in his fourth. The Falcons have won every regular-season title since that time.
